A man suffered a broken ankle after running from police who were trying to arrest him in connection with an auto theft this afternoon in the east valley, Metro Police said.

Officers were attempting to take the man into custody near Vegas Valley Drive and Nellis Boulevard about 4:50 p.m. when he took off and ran into the side of a moving car, Lt. Mark Reddon said.
