Metro Police detective accused of attempted sexual assault

A Metro Police detective was arrested Thursday on counts including attempted sexual assault and battery after allegedly fighting with a woman over a fee for sex acts, authorities said.

Michael Kitchen, 35, was taken into custody after police allege he met a female at her home in the 2500 block of East Flamingo Road, near Eastern Avenue, and the two fought over a prearranged fee.

Kitchen assaulted the female in an attempt to get his money back and then fled, police said.

The incident was reported about 5:20 p.m., and Metro’s Sexual Assault Section and Internal Affairs Bureau responded, officials said.

The female was treated and released from Desert Springs Hospital, police said.

Kitchen, who is a gangs and narcotics detective and has been with Metro since 1999, was also arrested on a count of robbery, police said.

He is being housed at the Clark County Detention Center and has been placed on unpaid administrative leave during the criminal investigation.
