Henderson announced six finalists today in its search for a new city manager, including two city employees, two Las Vegas municipal employees and two candidates from outside the state.
They are vying to replace the recently retired Jacob Snow, who held the city’s top job for three years following a long career at the Regional Transportation Commission.
The finalists are: Orlando Sanchez, Las Vegas deputy city manager; Scott Adams, Las Vegas deputy city manager; Robert Murnane, Henderson director of public works, parks and recreation; Steven Goble, Henderson fire chief; Ronald Olson, city manager of Corpus Christi, Texas; and Steven Sarkozy, former city manager in Carlsbad, Calif., and Bellevue, Wash.
The candidates were selected through a national search conducted by Ralph Andersen & Associates, and the final decision will be made by the Henderson City Council. The finalists will go through a two-day interview process that starts July 8.
Candidates will make presentations to the council outlining their first 100 days on the job starting at 1:15 p.m. July 8 at City Council chambers. That will be followed by a public meet and greet from 6 to 8 p.m. in the west City Hall lobby, 240 Water St.
Candidates will have formal interviews with the City Council on July 9, after which the council is expected to make its decision.
All events are open to the public and will be streamed online at the city’s website.
The chosen candidate would still have to negotiate a contract approved by the City Council before the hiring is finalized.
The Henderson city manager is responsible for a government that includes 2,000 employees across more than a dozen departments, including police, fire, public works and finance. The position is akin to that of a CEO in the private sector.
Before he retired, Snow received a package of salary and benefits worth $321,000 annually, according to Transparent Nevada.
