CARSON CITY — Gov. Brian Sandoval today named Victor Wakefield to the Nevada State Board of Education, representing District 1 in Las Vegas.
Wakefield, executive director for the Las Vegas chapter of Teach For America, succeeds Alexis Gonzales Black, who resigned.
Sandoval said the state board will play a critical role in new education programs recently approved by the Legislature.
