The Las Vegas education system doesn't get the best rap.

Nevada consistently ranks among the worst in the country for student achievement, and the Nevada Legislature recently decided the school situation is so dire it needs strong state intervention in the form of a bevy of education bills.

But we're not all bad! Here are 13 celebrities who graduated from Las Vegas high schools and went on to great — or at least notable — things.

1. Jimmy Kimmel, host and executive producer of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!," graduated from Clark High School.

2. Michael Dunn, a current MLB Miami Marlins player, graduated from Cimarron-Memorial High School.

3. Brandon Flowers, frontman for The Killers, graduated from Chaparral High School. The Las Vegas reference in the title to their 2006 album "Sam's Town" is pretty easy to spot. More difficult is the one in the title of their 2012 album, "Battle Born."

4. Comedian and actress Jillian Bell graduated from Bishop Gorman High School.

5. Popular R&B singer Ne-Yo graduated from Rancho High School. He remains a strong supporter of the local Las Vegas Boys & Girls Club. Most recently he was there in December helping deliver presents to children in need.

6. Frank Hawkins Jr., former running back for the Oakland Raiders, graduated from Western High School in 1977.

7. Jenna Jameson, one of the most famous adult performers ever, attended Bonanza High School. Jameson still frequents Las Vegas to attend the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo and, prior to her retirement, to accept awards.

8. Kenneth Wilson, drummer for Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson, graduated from Chaparral High School.

9. NASCAR drivers Kurt and Kyle Busch graduated from Durango High School.

10. Ryan Ross, formerly lead guitarist and songwriter for Panic! at the Disco, graduated from Bishop Gorman High School.

11. Local business giant and philanthropist Larry Ruvo graduated from Las Vegas High School. He partnered with Steve Wynn and started Southern Wine and Spirits.

12. Marco Rubio didn’t graduate from high school in Las Vegas, but much has been written about the six years he spent here as a child. He was also back in town just a few weeks ago.
