An off-duty Metro officer was critically injured Saturday after he was struck by a car while riding his personal motorcycle.
The incident occurred around 12:20 a.m., when a 45-year-old woman traveling south on Camino el Norte in a Chevrolet SUV made a left turn onto La Madre Way, intercepting the officer's path, Lt. Tim Bedwell said.
The officer was taken to UMC in critical condition.
The driver of the SUV was uninjured. A search warrant has been issued for her blood sample in order to determine whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision, Bedwell said.
