Nevada Senate OKs posting tax rolls on Internet

CARSON CITY — Without dissent, the state Senate today approved a bill that would allow county assessors to post annual property tax rolls on the Internet instead of publishing them in local newspapers.

Supporters say the bill would save $700,000 in Clark County alone.

SB 95, which now goes to the Assembly, requires assessors to only publish in the newspaper a notice that the property tax valuations will be posted on the Internet.

The Nevada Press Association had unsuccessfully tried to amend the bill to require four notices in the newspaper and other information about how taxable values are determined and on how to appeal the assessment.
