A man has been arrested in connection with the downtown stabbing death of a 48-year-old Las Vegas woman more than a week ago, according to Metro Police.

Kelvin James, 32, was booked into the Clark County jail and is being held without bail on a count of murder with a deadly weapon, jail records show.

Officers received a report Sunday of a prowler in the 4300 block of South Nellis Boulevard, near Boulder Highway, police said.

James was stopped by police in the area, who believed he matched the description of the reported prowler, and further investigation led to his arrest, police said.

Homicide detectives wanted to interview James in connection with the death of Elizabeth Renee Green, police said.

Police were called about 8:20 a.m. Oct. 23 to the Siegel Suites at 1500 Fremont Street, near South 15th Street, where Green was found dead of a stab wound to the chest, according to police.

She was renting the unit, and a Siegel Suites worker found her body.

Investigators originally stated the incident may have been domestic violence-related, but it's unclear if that is still believed to be the case.
