A power outage stemming from a construction accident today temporarily closed a Department of Motor Vehicles office in Las Vegas, according to a department spokesman.
Power went out about noon at the DMV office at 2701 E. Sahara Ave., near South Eastern Avenue, DMV spokesman Kevin Malone said.
A construction crew digging to place power poles for a new DMV building knocked a tree onto the power lines, Malone said.
NV Energy responded, and as of 3:45 p.m., power was restored, he said. The DMV will reopen and close at 5 p.m. as normal, he said.
Construction on the new facility will last through December 2016.
