Authorities are searching for a shooter who fatally wounded a driver in North Las Vegas early Thursday, causing him to crash into a parked car, according to city police.

Officers were called about 2 a.m. to the 2500 block of Glory View Lane, near Carey Avenue and Simmons Street, police said.

The sequence of events, including the shooter's location when the trigger was pulled, was still under investigation, spokeswoman officer Ann Cavaricci said Thursday night.

However, the incident is not considered a random act of violence, police said.

The driver, a 37-year-old man, was shot once in the head and died at University Medical Center, police said.

This was North Las Vegas police's 17th homicide investigation this year.
