It wasn’t the much-hyped Mega Millions jackpot, but a Powerball lottery ticket worth $785,040 was sold in Primm on Wednesday night, according to the Powerball website.
The $257 million Powerball jackpot wasn’t hit, but a ticket matching the numbers 2, 24, 31, 57 and 66 earned a buyer at the Primm Valley Lotto Store a second-place prize. The only thing separating that buyer’s ticket from the $257 million jackpot was the Powerball 18.
Another ticket, sold in Capistrano Beach, Calif., also matched the first five numbers.
The next Powerball drawing is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday, with an estimated jackpot of more than $280 million.
The next Mega Millions drawing is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. Friday, with an estimated jackpot of more than $530 million.
It wasn’t clear whether the winning Primm Powerball ticket had yet been claimed. A spokeswoman for the Primm Valley Lotto Store did not immediately return calls for comment.
