Sat, Jun 4, 2016 (6:28 p.m.)

Las Vegas is facing down an excessive-heat warning through the weekend.

The National Weather Service forecast temperatures of up to 109 degrees on Saturday afternoon and 108 degrees on Sunday.

The excessive-heat warning was set to expire at 8 p.m. on Sunday.

Clark County officials announced 13 extra community centers were opening their doors as "cooling stations" for the homeless during the heat wave. There are typically only three sites in the county open as daytime shelters during the summer.
