CARSON CITY — The medical school at UNLV is on schedule to open to 60 students in fall 2017, and it expects thousands of applications, its chief said today.
Founding Dean Dr. Barbara Atkinson said faculty recruitment is underway. She briefed the Legislative Committee on Education on the progress of the school approved by the 2015 Legislature, which allocated $26.8 million to get it off the ground.
There will 60 students enrolled in the school in each of the first four years. There will be scholarships for the first 60 students.
