Week 1 ruled
Las Vegas Sun sports editors Ray Brewer and Case Keefer recap a particularly memorable week 1 in Las Vegas high school football that included Bishop Gorman obliterated a Texas power and two games between top five teams that came down to the final minute.

Shadow Ridge gashed Eldorado for more than 350 rushing yards in its 51-0 win Friday night to open the season.
Senior running back Malik Lindsey led the Mustangs with 123 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
Elisha Young went off for 121 yards and a touchdown on only four carries — a whopping 30 yards per rush.
“There were a lot of big plays on the ground,” Shadow Ridge coach Travis Foster said. “It’s great to come out with a win.”
Shadow Ridge held Eldorado to less than 20 yards rushing and intercepted quarterback Jaime Rangel.
“They played with 11 hats going to the ball,” Foster said. “Great team defense with a lot of kids running around making tackles.”
The Mustangs raced out to a 31-0 lead at halftime and never looked back.
Aubrey Nellems took the second-half opening kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown, putting the icing on the cake for Shadow Ridge’s first opening-night win since 2010.
“Moving forward, this is the first time Shadow has been 1-0 in a long time,” Foster said. “It’s great for our kids to feel like they're doing something that hasn’t been done, and gives them momentum.”
