Letters to the Editor:

Kelly will instill order

Sun, Aug 13, 2017 (2 a.m.)

I’d written previously of the greatness of Gen. John Kelly (May 10, Las Vegas Sun), so it came to no surprise to me that President Donald Trump selected him to be the White House chief of staff. Kelly will bring good order and discipline to the West Wing, which should cause the chaos of the past six months to subside and bring forward a clear, more focused message while the agenda of the executive and legislative branches is restarted.

The “Mooch” side show, quickly ended by Kelly, is evidence that the professionals are in the room and access to the president will be tightened considerably. There will be no stopping the president from tweeting, but his tweets will hopefully lessen in number and will exhibit more polished content.

Additionally, Kelly should present the president a primer on one bedrock Marine leadership principle: know yourself and seek self-improvement.

It is my hope that the business of the White House will become just that and the reality show circus becomes a thing of the past.
