The April draft party held below the “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign felt like the public reveal of the Las Vegas Raiders, a joyous first step in the team embracing its future home.

Over the next three months though, team officials mostly maintained a low profile in Southern Nevada as they began a three-year balancing act of inviting their new state into "Raider Nation" while keeping a robust presence for hurt fans in Oakland.

In two months, the Raiders will plant their next visible roots in the valley with the opening of official merchandise stores at the Galleria at Sunset mall and Town Square, according to Galleria marketing director Jamie Lamphere. She said Monday that The Raider Image will open on the Galleria’s lower level in late October or early November.

“It’s been a good year for us and the Raiders are obviously a positive thing,” Lamphere said, adding that The Raider Image fills the last remaining retail vacancy in the 21-year-old Henderson mall.

Lamphere could not confirm lease details but said the Raiders signed on for more than a year in a 3,500-square-foot space near Dillard’s and Kohl’s. The Raiders own and operate the stores, which sell “sideline, on-field and exclusive products.” The Southern Nevada locations will be the 10th and 11th in the team’s portfolio, joining stores in Northern and Southern California.

Fans cannot yet purchase official Las Vegas-branded Raiders merchandise. The NFL does not plan to license Las Vegas Raiders apparel and goods while the team plays in Oakland. Because the Raiders logo does not incorporate a location, nothing needs to change for the team to sell much of its merchandise in Las Vegas.

NFL Players Association statistics show that Raiders stars accounted for four of the top 20 best-selling jerseys in the NFL in the second quarter of 2017: Marshawn Lynch (4), Derek Carr (11), Khalil Mack (14) and Amari Cooper (17.)

The Raiders will play at Oakland Coliseum for the next two years but have not secured a home field for the 2019 season. Their $1.9 billion Las Vegas stadium south of the Las Vegas Strip will open for the 2020 season.
