Roberto Valenzuela threw for 227 yards and four touchdowns to lead Legacy to a dominant 46-10 opening night win over Silverado Friday night.
Valenzuela, who averaged only 90 passing yards per game last season, completed 20-of-25 passes in an eye-opening performance.
“It’s his second year in the system and the work he put in this offseason is really showing,” Legacy coach John Isola said. “His mechanics have already been incredible, but he’s the captain now and he’s running the offense.”
The Longhorns also ran the ball at will for a total of 227 yards on the ground led by Aubrey Washington with 88 yards.
Legacy led 40-7 at halftime before taking their foot off the gas in the second half.
Following last year’s 8-3 season, the Longhorns could be even more dangerous with an equally dangerous passing attack to complement their always-strong running game.
“I’ve been here a long time and I always strive for balance on offense,” Isola said. “We will always be able to run it, but to be at our best we need balance.”
