Las Vegas Sun sports editors Ray Brewer and Case Keefer welcome back football season by going through all the leagues, and also touch on major storylines. They also disagree on picks for numerous week 1 games.

Elisha Young scored on a 60-yard run on the first play of the game tonight for the Shadow Ridge High football team in a 47-6 victory against host Desert Oasis.

It marked the second time in as many seasons the Mustangs scored on the first play of the season.

“What we do is hard to prepare for if you haven’t seen it,” Shadow Ridge coach Travis Foster said of the Mustangs’ misdirection rushing attack. “You can’t replicate it with the speed we are fortunate enough to have.”

Shadow Ridge had 400 rushing yards and just 27 offensive plays. Aubrey Nellems carried the ball seven times for 141 yards and a touchdown.

Kody Presser went for three touchdown and 47 yards on just four carries.

Young touched the ball twice, and scored both times.
