Las Vegas Sun sports editors Ray Brewer and Case Keefer welcome back football season by going through all the leagues, and also touch on major storylines. They also disagree on picks for numerous week 1 games.

Marquelle Diggs caught touchdown passes of 39 and 31 yards today for the Spring Valley High football team in a 34-14 opening-night victory against visiting Eldorado.

Sylo Staton passed for three touchdowns and added a rushing touchdown of 35 yards.

“It’s one of those first-game deals,” Spring Valley coach Marcus Teal said. “We were playing really well offensively and then I think we got a little complacent with what we were doing.”

Kevin Benoza added a 15-yard scoring run and Jonathan Vazquez had a 40-yard touchdown reception.

Teal gave credit to Eldorado for its play in the second half.

“They kept coming at us,” he said. “Eldorado, as we figured they would, made it tough on us.”
