Detectives were investigating the murder of a man who was shot multiple times Tuesday night in an east valley apartment complex, according to Metro Police.

The shooting happened about 10:30 p.m. in the 3700 block of Bonanza Road, near Pecos Road, police said. The man dropped his girlfriend off at her apartment and shortly after multiple witnesses reported hearing a confrontation in the parking lot followed by gunshots, police said.

The man, described as in his late 20s, was found dead from multiple gunshot wounds between two cars in the parking lot, police said.

“We don’t know if somebody was waiting for him or if he was meeting somebody,” Lt. David Gordon said.

The victim had a gun in his waistband and a criminal history related to gangs, Gordon said.

No suspects have been identified. Police plan to interview the girlfriend for details.
