A pedestrian died this morning following a crash on Flamingo Road, just east of Maryland Parkway, in which she was struck by a car driven by a man believed to be impaired, according to Metro Police.

The 55-year-old Las Vegas woman died at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, police said. Christian Fujita-Miyashiro, 23, was jailed.

Officers and medical crews were dispatched to the scene about 7:45 a.m., police said.

Las Vegan Fujita-Miyashiro was heading eastbound on a green light on Flamingo when his 2005 Honda Accord struck the woman just outside a Claymont Street crosswalk, police said.

The driver failed a field sobriety test and was booked without bail at the Clark County Detention Center on one count of DUI, jail records show. Metro Lt. Mark Lourenco said he was “drunk.”

Fujita-Miyashiro is scheduled to appear in court on Monday morning, jail records show.
