A blaze in a vacant downtown Las Vegas apartment complex this afternoon caused about $20,000 in damage, according to Las Vegas Fire & Rescue.

Arson investigators determined that the building, 534 S. 11th St., has a history of being used by squatters, officials said. The one-story building was not secured and had no utilities connected.

Crews were called about 3:15 p.m. and encountered a small fire in a bedroom, toward the back of the complex, which they quickly extinguished, officials said. No one was injured.
