Metro Police officer injured in crash

An officer suffered minor injuries when a patrol car, with lights and sirens activated, was struck by another vehicle at Rancho and Vegas drives about 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, according to Metro Police.

A Metro Police officer was hospitalized this morning after being T-boned while driving through an intersection in the northeast valley, police said.

The police car had its lights and siren activated when it was hit about 6:30 a.m. at Rancho and Vegas drives, Lt. Charles Jenkins said. The officer suffered minor injuries, he said.

The intersection was shut down after the crash but reopened about 9:40 a.m., according to the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada.
