Mon, Nov 6, 2017 (1:24 p.m.)

Firefighters pulled an unconscious person from a smoke-filled garage that reportedly had been converted into a living area, according to the Clark County Fire Department.

The fire was reported about 11:30 p.m. Sunday at a two-story house in the 5000 block of Coral Vine Way in the east valley, officials said.

Crews put out the fire within about 15 minutes and found the victim while searching the garage, officials said. The person, who was not identified, was taken to University Medical Center in “cardiac respiratory arrest,” officials said.

No other injuries were reported. But 11 children and four adults were displaced, officials said.

Firefighters were able to prevent the blaze from spreading to the rest of the home, officials said. The cause of the fire is under investigation, and damage has not yet been estimated, officials said.

In another incident, firefighters responded about 12:50 p.m. today to a house fire in the 3000 block of West Meranto Avenue in the southwest valley. Nobody was injured, and the cause of the fire is under investigation, officials said.
