At the beginning of the season, the Canyon Springs-Las Vegas high school football rivalry was billed as the Northeast League championship game.

It didn’t turn out that way. Canyon Springs, again, is the class of the league.

The defending league champion Pioneers received three rushing and two passing touchdowns from senior DiaMante Burton in a 44-14 win against visiting Las Vegas.

“There are still a couple of things we need to fix,” Canyon Springs coach Gus McNair said. “But team-wise they are starting to come together and starting to get it.”

Jayvion Pugh, Kazonte Thomas and Kayjon Edwards each scored for Canyon Springs.
