Letter to the editor:

Offering words of comfort

Tue, Oct 10, 2017 (2 a.m.)

To those who lost loved ones in the Las Vegas shooting:

First, do not let the second of your loved one’s death overshadow the seconds that they spent alive on earth. No matter how painful that one second is to you, it is nothing compared to the seconds they lived.

Additionally, I would like to offer something an ancient Native American grandfather once said: “On the day you choose to drop off your shell (body), your spirit will grasp new life. Your spirit, scarcely noticing the change, will go on creating, rejoicing. For the spirit, unaware of start and finish, knows only those restraints that your body imposes.”

I pray that you find comfort.
