Tyray Collins rushed for more than 100 yards and two touchdowns today for the Chaparral High football team in a 35-28 win at Del Sol.

“It was struggle. We pulled it out with some running plays,” Cowboys coach Paul Nihipali said.

And it wasn’t all Collins.

Danny Tia had the eventual game-winning touchdown on a 15-yard run in the third quarter, and Shaq Fofanah and Iopu Tauli’ili also had rushing touchdowns.

Chaparral hosts Virgin Valley next Thursday in the television game. With Virgin Valley beating Moapa Valley tonight, a Chaparral win would create a three-way tie for first place among the three schools.

“We need to make the kids understand that this is just another game,” Nihipali said.
