The Mojave Rattlers rode another great performance by star running back Tawee Walker to a playoff-clinching victory Friday night.

Walker tallied 190 rushing yards and three touchdowns to lead Mojave over Cheyenne 40-6.

“He is so important to us,” Mojave coach Abraham Gonzalez said. “He comes out and demonstrates leadership and runs with a purpose. Every run tonight it took two or three guys to take him down.”

The Rattlers improved to 6-2 on the season and 3-1 in Sunset League play to clinch the postseason for the first time since 2015.

“It means a lot because we’ve been working hard for this,” Gonzalez said. “To clinch the playoffs feels good. It will be our first playoff appearance with the new regime.”

Mojave closes out the regular season by hosting Pahrump Valley on Thursday.
