A Clark County School District truancy officer is accused of illegally entering a student’s home and assaulting him earlier this month, according to officials.

Scott Weissinger, 56, was arrested Wednesday for the incident that allegedly occurred on Oct. 18, CCSD Police Chief Ken Young said. The 16-year-old student did not suffer serious injuries.

Weissinger was booked at the Clark County Detention Center one count each of battery by strangulation and burglary, both felonies, and one count of child abuse and endangerment, a misdemeanor, Young said.

According to an investigation, Weissinger was on duty and following up on a truancy report when the incident occurred, Young said.

Weissinger, who’s been employed by the school district since 1991, was suspended without pay while the investigation continues, police said. Jail records indicate he’s out on bail.
