You may be prepping for Halloween but there’s plenty of non-spooky entertainment options around town this weekend. Take advantage of the Nevada Day holiday and enjoy the best of local music, comedy, theater and more.

STEVEN WRIGHT The very definition of deadpan, comedian and actor Steven Wright has never deviated from his unique delivery, whether he’s doing stand-up, showing up in movies or TV shows or writing. And did you know he owns an Oscar? He won it in 1988 for his short film “The Appointments of Dennis Jennings.” Wright returns to the Treasure Island stage on Friday. TREY ANASTASIO BAND Halloween weekend in Las Vegas traditionally translates into a jam band invasion and this year is no different as the Phish guitarist and composer brings his group to Brooklyn Bowl at the Linq Promenade for two nights of music. Oct. 27-28, info at brooklynbowl.com.

THE KING AND I The Lincoln Center Theater production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s classic musical exploring the relationship between the King of Siam and a British schoolteacher won the Tony Award in 2015 for Best Musical Revival. The production wraps up its run at Reynolds Hall this weekend with 2 p.m. matinees and 7:30 p.m. shows Friday through Sunday. Oct. 27-29, info at thesmithcenter.com.

THE TEMPTATIONS It isn’t just your imagination. The intimate 850-seat Orleans Showroom is playing host to two concerts from one of the most beloved and legendary Motown groups to ever take to the stage and studio. Original member Otis Williams, 75, leads the Temptations back to Las Vegas this weekend. Oct. 28-29, info at orleanscasino.com.

JOHN CARPENTER You don’t have to be a film geek to know that iconic horror and sci-fi director John Carpenter (“Halloween,” “Escape From New York,” “The Thing”) has also composed a lot of the music for his memorable movies. His anthology tour rolls into the Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel Sunday night, perfect timing to get you in the mood for the creepiest day of the year. Oct. 29, info at hardrockhotel.com.
