A naked man was taken into custody after causing a disturbance in a west valley neighborhood this morning, throwing things at officers, including a knife, and barricading himself in his house for about six hours, according to Metro Police.
The man, whose name was not released, was taken to a hospital for minor injuries and was expected to be booked on undetermined counts, Officer Laura Meltzer said.
Officers responded about 5:20 a.m. to the 11000 block of Piedmont Avenue, near Far Hills Avenue and the 215 Beltway, to reports of a man standing outside cursing, running around and masturbating in a garage, Meltzer said.
When officers arrived, the man threw objects including bottles, batteries and a knife, toward them, Meltzer said. Because they couldn’t get the man to come out, officers treated the incident a barricade situation and evacuated several nearby houses, she said.
The man, who has a history of neighborhood disturbances and contacts with police, was taken into custody about 11:45 a.m., Meltzer said.
