Firefighter injured in blaze at Henderson condo

Wed, Sep 20, 2017 (7:55 p.m.)

A firefighter was hospitalized but is expected to recover after being hurt this evening in a blaze at a Henderson condominium, according to city officials.

Crews were dispatched about 5:40 p.m. to the two-story Scottsdale Valley condos, 2925 Wigwam Parkway, near Eastern Avenue, city spokeswoman Kathleen Richards said.

The flames triggered a sprinkler system that helped suppress the fire before first responders arrived and knocked it out, Richards said. The firefighter suffered an undisclosed nonlife-threatening injury and was taken to an area hospital.

Initial reports suggest two people were displaced, Richards said.
