Palo Verde wasn’t going to allow another win to slip through its grasp.

After losing two of their last three games by a total of four points, the Panthers were focused on putting Del Sol away early Thursday night. They had no problem doing that, winning 47-12 after building a 41-6 halftime lead.

“We expected to play well,” Palo Verde coach Joe Aznarez said. “We were deeply disappointed after last week’s outcome.”

Senior running back Chamere Thomas helped the Panthers channel that disappointment into aggression against the Dragons. Thomas ran for three touchdowns, while catching another.

Junior Isaiah Scott also scored a touchdown and led a two-headed rushing attack alongside Thomas. The win could help set Palo Verde in the right direction for four remaining league games that could still deliver it to the playoffs.

“We’re four points away from being 4-1,” Azanrez said. “If we can just make some plays here and there, we’ll be right there.”
