An officer fired several shots Sunday night after a man hit him and another officer with a car while attempting to flee, according to Henderson Police.
The officers were treated at the scene for minor injuries, and the driver and a female passenger got away, police said. A second woman fled on foot, police said.
It is not known if the man and woman in the car were hit by the gunfire, police said.
A patrol officer contacted the trio, who were involved in unspecified “suspicious activity,” about 8:10 p.m. in the 2600 block of Windmill Parkway, police said. They ignored the officer’s commands and an altercation ensued as a second officer arrived to assist, police said.
The man, Larry Calvert, 27, got into a car, where a woman was already seated in the front passenger seat, and struck both officers with the vehicle as he attempted to flee, police said. One officer fired his gun several times, police said.
Calvert faces two counts of battery with a deadly weapon, police said. The women, both 26, were described as persons of interest.
Police released a photo of Calvert, as well as the car involved — a black 1998 Toyota Camry with California license plates 4BSC566.
The incident was the first officer-involved shooting in Henderson this year.
