A Las Vegas assisted living center is under investigation by the state surrounding the death of one of its residents last week.

The resident at the Atria Sutton Senior Living center on East Flamingo Road had been deceased for 30 to 36 hours before being discovered, facility officials said.

“As soon as the community became aware of this, they notified local police, who contacted a coroner,” Atria Senior Living said in a statement. “After their initial review, we began our own internal investigation. During this internal investigation, we discovered violations of our policies and procedures.”

The employees found to be in violation of their policies are no longer with the company, officials said.

The state Bureau of Health Care Quality and Compliance didn’t comment on the matter, citing the pending investigation. Nevada launched its investigation after being contacted by the Sun.

The company couldn't release specifics, such as the gender or age of the deceased, or which level of care that individual received at the facility.

To avoid a similar occurrence, Atria Sutton will provide employees supplemental training.
