A security guard has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman at a downtown Las Vegas hotel after threatening to turn her over to police for suspected prostitution, according to Metro Police.

After the alleged incident this week, the guard let the woman leave, police said.

Jose Garcia, 39, was arrested and taken to the Clark County Detention Center, where he faces two counts of sexual assault, two counts of open and gross lewdness, and a count of attempted sexual assault, police said.

Detectives were called Tuesday to investigate a reported assault at the hotel in the 200 block of Fremont Street, police said.

They met with the security director of the hotel, who had been made aware of a report of a sexual assault of a female visitor by a security supervisor, police said. They also interviewed the woman, who went to University Medical Center, police said.

As a result of the investigation, Garcia was placed under arrest, police said.
