Jalen Malone accounted for five touchdowns today for the Eldorado High football team in a 44-15 victory at Mission High of the San Diego area.

It was the perfect season opener for Eldorado, which has struggled in recent years. It had the experience of traveling, the weather was in the 60s and, most important, the Sundevils got a win.

“Man, just a huge confidence booster for us,” Eldorado coach Robert Cutts said.

Guillermo Hernandez had scoring receptions of 6 and 22 yards for Eldorado, and Trezon Turner had a 19-yard touchdown reception.

Eldorado led 18-15 at halftime. Its running game took over in the second half, Cutts said. Michael Perez had a team-high 169 yards.

“The kids are ready to take the season head on,” Cutts said.
