The Bishop Gorman High football team has its first losing streak since 2005, falling 13-7 tonight at Centennial of Arizona for its second loss in as many weeks.

And if it weren’t for an 8-yard touchdown pass from Micah Bowens to Rome Odunze with a few seconds remaining, the nine-time defending state champion Gaels would have been shut out for a second consecutive week.

Gorman had plenty of chances in the second half. It drove the ball to inside the Centennial 5-yard line but was turned away in multiple attempts at the end zone.

Then, late in the fourth quarter, Bowens was intercepted near the end zone on a fourth-down play.

Centennial’s Tawee Walker, who in 2017 led Mojave of North Las Vegas to the 3A state championship game, had two touchdown runs.

Gorman hosts Orem of Utah next Friday. Orem beat Canyon Springs 41-14 tonight.
