The Las Vegas High football team recorded its second straight shutout to open the season, blanking Gateway of Colorado 49-0 at home.

Jonathan Broadhead had a fumble recovery in the endzone for a touchdown for the Wildcats defense, which forced four turnovers.

“It took us awhile to get going on offense, but our defense put up another goose egg,” Las Vegas coach Erick Capetillo said.

Sophomore quarterback Ja’Shawn Scroggins rushed for two touchdowns and passed for another, hooking up with Miles Davis on a 70-yard scoring strike.

Cody Summer and Daniel Law added rushing scores.
