Braeden St. John rushed for 72 yards and four touchdowns today for the Moapa Valley High football team in a 42-6 win against visiting Valley.

Pirates coach Brent Lewis said it was the best start to a game his team has had on the young season.

“For the first time, we came out pretty sharp,” he said.

Luke Bennett completed 12 of 17 passes for 150 yards and a touchdown for Moapa Valley, which improved to 2-1 on the season. Valley fell to 0-3.

Derek Reese had the touchdown catch.

“So far this season the only thing stopping us is ourselves,” Lewis said. “It’s been a couple of miscues here and there.”
