Last season, Foothill edged Palo Verde by a point in the final seconds to make for one of the best high school football games of the year.

The Falcons allowed no such drama against the Panthers this season. Foothill won its home opener, improving to 2-0 on the season with a 24-7 win over Palo Verde.

Foothill smashed Palo Verde from the beginning, taking a 10-0 lead in the first quarter and extending it to 17-0 by halftime. Jordan Wilson led the Falcons with a pair of touchdowns, one rushing and one receiving.

Fellow senior playmaker Jordan Blakely had Foothill’s other touchdown with a reception from junior quarterback Koy Riggin, who was effective for a second straight week.

Palo Verde dropped to 1-1 with the loss.
