A woman who accepted a ride near the north Strip last month was sexually assaulted at gunpoint by the driver, according to Metro Police.

In an effort to identify the perpetrator, police on Friday released a composite sketch of him, and a photo of his four-door Kia sedan.

The victim on May 14 was awaiting a ride-share driver in the 2000 block of Las Vegas Boulevard South, north of Sahara Avenue, when her phone died, police said. She walked across the street and the Kia pulled alongside her, asking if she needed a ride.

In the car ride, the woman noticed the driver was not headed toward her destination. Instead, he took her to the 1800 block of 9th Street, about 1.5 miles away, police said. There, he pulled out a gun and sexually assaulted her.

The woman was able to get out of the car and yell for help, and that’s when calls began coming in to 911, police said. The woman was later located a few streets away.

The suspect was described as a heavy-build Hispanic man between ages 45 and 50, police said. He had short hair, a beard and a mustache.
