Win a free wedding ceremony on Las Vegas driverless shuttle

Wed, Jun 6, 2018 (3:37 p.m.)

Couples looking to get married can win a free ceremony in the AAA Nevada’s autonomous shuttle in downtown Las Vegas.

AAA is conducting an essay contest to give away a wedding ceremony valued at $500 from the Little Lucky Chapel in the Container Park and $150 in swag and food. The ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. June 30 in front of the Container Park.

“This idea came about because we’re trying to raise awareness in the public about how self-driving cars will impact our daily lives, such as the family road trip or the honeymoon trip,” said AAA Nevada spokesman Michael Blasky.

The driverless shuttle will be stationary during the service but will the take the winning couple on two loops around the 0.7-mile downtown route, which features stops at the Donut Bar and the Fremont Street Experience, after the ceremony.

The shuttle has transported more than 25,000 riders since November, when the yearlong pilot program began.

To win, couples must write an essay of 400 words or less about a road trip they've shared and how an autonomous vehicle would have changed the experience. Couples must be Nevada residents and at least 21 years old to enter.
