A Harley A. Harmon Elementary School teacher was booked today on a count of felony child abuse involving a student, according to Clark County School District Police.
Melody Carter, 58, surrendered after a court hearing this morning, Lt. Roberto Morales said. She was booked at the Clark County Detention Center.
Morales said an investigation into the alleged incident was launched on May 2, but further details were not released.
The school is located in the east valley near Hacienda Avenue and Nellis Boulevard.
Carter was hired by the School District in 1996, police said. She was “assigned to home” while the investigation continues, officials said.
