LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

We can stop animal cruelty

Sun, May 20, 2018 (2 a.m.)

After seeing the video of a baby duck being brutally killed by students at one of our schools, I feel compelled to raise an important issue.

Many forms of animal cruelty occur daily in our city. As FBI profilers and any police department will tell you, violence against humans often begins with cruelty to animals. Jeffrey Dahmer is a perfect example of where this unnecessary cruelty can lead. We as a society need to take it seriously and not ignore. Cruelty laws are being strengthened to address this issue and harsher punishments are being implemented.

The problem is so severe that our District Attorney’s Office started an Animal Cruelty Unit. It is doing a great service to our community. If you see something, say something. Make that call if you see or hear about animal violence or any form of violence. Together, we can make a difference and in the end help create a more humane society and safer community.
