A woman died of burns after firefighters put out a small fire Monday at an apartment in the southwest valley, according to the Clark County Fire Department.

Firefighters responded about 7 p.m. to the fire in the 4200 block of Rochelle Avenue, where they found a small fire burning just outside the kitchen, officials said. They quickly put out the blaze and found a woman suffering significant burns, officials said.

Paramedics treated the woman and took her to the hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries, officials said. The woman’s name was not released.
