A man has been arrested in the theft of two puppies last week from a west valley pet store, but only one of the animals has been recovered, according to Metro Police.

A man forced his way into the store in the 8800 block of West Charleston Boulevard about 6:45 a.m. Thursday and snatched two puppies — a German shepherd and Pomeranian, police said. An employee saw him take the dogs and flee out the front door, police said.

The German shepherd was recovered today and returned to the store, but the other dog is still missing, police said.

During their investigation, detectives identified Sean Ross, 31, as a suspect, police said.

On Monday, police in North Las Vegas located Ross as officers investigated a report of a homeless person setting up a camp near Decatur Boulevard and Rome Boulevard, Metro said. There were no signs of the puppies, Metro said.

Ross was taken to the Clark County Detention Center, where he faces counts of burglary and grand larceny, Metro said.
