Two high school football division champions will be determined tonight in Nevada’s large-school classification.

In Southeast League, undefeated Foothill hosts league power Liberty. In the Southwest League, Durango takes on visiting Bishop Gorman, the nine-time defending state champions.

Liberty is led by sophomore running back Zyrus Fiaseu, who rushed for 235 yards and four touchdowns last week, and who is expected to again be a force against Foothill.

Foothill is strong at the skilled positions with the likes of Jordan Blakely, Jordan Wilson and Braeden Wilson. If Foothill can get the ball to one of these players in open space, it could hang with Liberty, the reigning eight-time regional champions.

The Durango-Gorman clash isn’t expected to be as competitive. While Durango has won five straight games, nobody locally has beaten nationally known Gorman since 2008.

There are more games of interest tonight, especially in the 3A, where rivals Moapa Valley and Virgin Valley play in the annual “Hammer Game.” Moapa Valley has already won the 3A Sunrise League; Virgin Valley, who beat the Pirates last season, is playing its season finale.

Other games of note include Palo Verde at Faith Lutheran in a battle of Summerlin neighbors; Las Vegas and Desert Pines in northeast Las Vegas, and Coronado at Basic in a game with heavy playoff implications.
