Police searching for suspect in gunpoint sexual assault

Wed, Sep 5, 2018 (10:32 a.m.)

Metro Police are looking for a man they say ordered a woman into a car at gunpoint last week and sexually assaulted her.

The woman was walking about 4 a.m. on Aug. 26 near South Casino Center Boulevard and East Oakey Boulevard when a black car pulled up next to her, police said. The driver rolled down a window and said something the woman did not hear, so she approached the car, police said.

The man was holding a handgun and ordered her into the car, police said. He drove around the area and eventually stopped near West Oakey Boulevard and Ivanhoe Way, where he sexually assaulted the woman at gunpoint, police said.

The man punched the woman and shoved her out of the car, police said. She ran from the area, spotted a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper and reported the incident, police said.

An event involving a suspect and vehicle with descriptions similar to those in last week’s incident was reported in May, and detectives believe the two events might be related, police said.

The suspect was described as Hispanic, about 40 to 50 years old with a medium to heavy build and short salt-and-pepper hair, police said.

He may have a beard or facial hair with razor bumps where portions of a beard have been shaved away, police said. He had a heavy Spanish accent, police said.

The vehicle was described as a newer, black Kia four-door sedan or similar vehicle with dark tinted windows, police said.

Anyone with information about this incident or the suspect is asked to contact Metro at 702-828-3421. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or online at www.crimestoppersofnv.com. Tips leading directly to an arrest or indictment processed through Crime Stoppers may be eligible for a cash reward.
