A three-week operation led by the U.S. Marshals Service in Nevada led to 135 arrests of suspects wanted in felonies across the country, the agency announced today.
Additionally, two kilograms of drugs and 14 firearms were seized, officials said.
Operation STAR, which ended today and included 21 local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, targeted fugitives and involved gang enforcement, compliance checks on registered sex offenders, and other sex offender initiatives, officials said.
Notable arrests included Ruben Cruz, who was taken into custody in the southwest valley on a parole violation for fraud, authorities said.
Selvin Eduardo Zacena-Valdez was arrested by Mexican authorities at an airport in Tijuana, officials said. He was wanted in Nevada out of Sparks on 11 counts of sexual assault, authorities said.
Zavier Comminey, arrested in Clark County, was wanted in a Dallas homicide, officials said.
“The ability of agencies in Nevada to come together and work on a common goal was proven during Operation STAR,” U.S. Marshal for the District of Nevada Gary Schofield said in a news release. “The expertise of the USMS and all the participating agencies sends a clear message to the criminal element that we work together to form the modern posse to bring you to justice.”
